Bribery should be made mandatory jail sentence. This kind of culture must not exist here. Kill it before it proliferate!

That happens in any society but once you understand Asian culture, as you obviously do, they play by different rules. "Thick face Black Heart" was a very helpful read when we were setting up business in Asia. We pulled out once we realised we could never operate honestly in Asia, it's just not a virtue to them.

And what they did was hardly immoral. Lack of accountablility for actions maybe.
By the way many Cristian schools (Catholic in particular) do teach morals and integrity - it is a big part of what they do.

There is a price tag in everything, including moral and honesty. Fortunately, there are rare breed of people who will not sell a soul for anything. Society is a reflection of the rulers. Honest government and civil servants will ensure the society is clean and honest. We need strict laws and enforcement to deter dishonest behaviours.

Singapore is just as bad as the rest. i ran a business there for 2 years. Got ripped off by suppliers, business partners etc. ALL Asia is the same. It works on the basis that everybody rips everybody else off so the end result is everybody is all right. If one person tries to be straight they end up without a chair when the music stops.

As i said it is just as bad as the rest:
Singapore is one of the least corrupt nations on earth. Finished laughing now? Good. According to Transparency International’s (TI) 2013 “Corruption Perceptions Index,” Singapore ranks as the world’s 5th least corrupt nation.
The funny thing is that when you check out the TI’s “Global Corruption Barometer,” which is a public opinion survey measuring the average citizen’s view on national corruption, Singapore is oddly not on the list. But if you look at the 2010/2011 stats, 38% of respondents said corruption increased.
Unfortunately for Singapore, I think its #5 ranking is in serious danger, especially with the number of public officials getting busted for corruption.
Without further delay, here are Singapore’s top 5 corruption cases (so far):
They are better than China but terrible compared with countries like NZ.

The reported cases mean no one is above the law, no case remains unreported, and corruption will not be tolerated even at the highest level. Not difficult to Google for corruption cases in NZ. I would not want to compare Singapore and NZ in this manner, because I love both countries.

Maybe Li should take that up with the SFO?
