I think you may have misunderstood my intention there.
At that point in the conversation, I was letting you have a free pass on your stance that GST was all the things you claimed it to be.
I said. ok , assume you are correct and you have the power to alter the gst laws.
Make that alteration.
Then demonstrate to me how your new altered GST law will work in practice.
Just show me how a can of paint moves through your system.
I then proposed several interesting alternatives as to how the Landlord might not have to pay the GST.
I also gave you the option of adding something totally different if you chose to.
much later on in the thread the words "Zero rated" showed up.
So I suspect that your answer to my question would have been somthing like..
A = No not a landlords card, or any of the other options, more a zero rated type situation.
at witch point I would have reserached the history and application of "Zero Rating" and applied it to the paint demo.
If I found no problems Then I would have said...ok at least he has a system that works.
If I found that Zero Rating produced an unfair, impractical or inconsistant result, I would have refrerred it back to you for consideration and alteration.
PS I'm just erasing all my gst research files, so here is a good local link on the topic.
It may help you consider your GST and Reds under the beds type thoughts.
