    An Update

Wellington property management company Portfolio Property Management Limited has been put into liquidation - two years after the Tenancy Tribunal said it "consciously misled" students into renting an earthquake-prone building.

    ...
The first liquidator's report for the company, of which Craig Relph was the sole director and shareholder, says the judgment debt relates to a cost award made in favour of a former tenant of the company which remains unpaid.
    ...

The report says the director stated no accounting records had been kept by the company and the only records the official assignee was able to obtain were various lease agreements and applications and orders made to the tenancy tribunal.

Investigations revealed the company owns no land or property, plant and equipment and has at no stage operated a bank account, the report says.

Did not even have a bank account?!
      Wow and wow again!

Why would the OA be involved if it
was not an individual but a company?

He seems to have no cashflow records.
How does he calculate his tax?

Trading as Portfolio Property Management again - seems it wasn't liquidated.

Noting this is an old thread...

Another idiot who didn't turn up to court. Tenants or landlords who think it will go away by not turning up are morons. It just ensures they will lose.

A friend of mine didn't turn up to court to defend a vehicle damages claim at an intersection accident , not because he thought he was wrong but because the other party had secured a false witness. The other party were so confident of the outcome in their favour that they didn't show up to court either. Because both parties didn't show up the case was thrown out by the presiding judge , ironically the other party lost their damages claim and my friend effectively won by default through non attendance
